I had a candle party last week. Not only did I have to do everything you mentioned, but in addition to that:
1.I have to now separate everyone's orders.
2. Bag each order with their individual receipr.
3. (My favorite)Affix her lables to all of her products for reorders.
4. Deliver them myself.

The next time this lady asks me to do a party for her, my answer will be "no". I'm too busy for all of this, and here I felt sorry because I had a bad turnout.

Comment on How shopping for lipgloss and mascara is like direct sales

This information is so good for everyone to know. You need to know your products as well as do the research of what each product can do and how it should not be used. Get as much information by researching your industry and ask women questions. We know that we start to back lash at others when we are just "told" what to do. We want to be heard first, then have someone use the information given to "help" you. I think the easiest to understand as women, is the GYN. We go there and we are told what to do. But, we have the need for our doctor to hear us first. When we feel heard we feel validated. Lets let our cutomers feel validated too.

Comment on Does Your Presentation Need More Cowbell?

Kelly your energy is infectious, and the 'cowbell' skit is one of my favorites! I would love to know about your background and direct sales experience. I am just starting my direct sales business. Thanks for blog!

Comment on Are YOU Directly Successful?

Oh my gosh. I had no idea of starting a business until I found this site. I may just try something. What great advise. I felt like I was talking to a friend that really wanted to help me succeed and no sugarcoating from this gal. Thanks

Comment on Are YOU Directly Successful?

Thanks Kelly for this wonderful site. I know we all can learn lots from one another. I agree it can be so hard when you are dealing with your closest friends. You don't want to get resentful toward them that they won't book that party when they say 100 times, they will have a party for you!!! I know you have so many ideas to share and I hope I can learn from you and maybe offer something in return!!! Thanks! This always helped me when I was presenting.

Comment on Raise Your Hand if You're Sure

I use http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/welcomeback.aspx?xnav=welcome
I LOVE it! You can get really inexpensive marketing material for nothing!

Another favorite: http://roteck.com/ for excellent custom labels. I use them for reorder stickers!

I have heard of http://www.icontact.com/ as an alternate to constant contact.

Comment on Does Your Presentation Need More Cowbell?

AWESOME!
